COMMISSION FAQS
A memorable custom portrait can be created from photographs that you provide.
All portraits are done in color pencil. I sometimes mix the color pencils with watercolor pencils and/or gouache, to capture the detail, the spirit and personality of each subject..
The portraits are created on acid free paper - usually Stonehenge, Canson Mi Tientes, Arches or Bristol
The following is a list of frequently asked questions.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me info@mooresartgallery.com.
What Exactly Is A Commission?
A commissioned portrait is a drawing/painting of a specific subject that is done by an artist for a client.
How does the portrait process begin?
After you have emailed all the necessary information about the size of the portrait you want, the description of the animal or person, I will need to take photos of the subject or you will need to send me photos of the subject to be drawn/painted. If I take the photos, there are additional costs for traveling expenses and film expenses. An appointment will be set up to take the photo shoot, and then we will meet and discuss which of the photos you like best.
Then I will draw up a contract for both of us to sign.
How many photos will I need to send?
You will need to send approximately 3-6 good photos of the subject to be drawn, either by snail mail or email.
If I mail an original photo(s) to you, will it be returned?
Yes. I return all original photos, along with the completed commission piece.
What are the prices for a portrait?
Please refer to the price list for the cost of the portrait. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with the order.
Can I have additional subjects in my portrait?
Yes. The cost for additional subjects is $50.00 per subject.
When will my commission be finished?
Commissions are handled on a first come, first serve basis. Completion times are estimated based on the receipt of the images or photographs, the size and detail of the portrait. Small portraits take anywheres from 1 to 2 weeks and larger portraits take anywheres from 2 to 6 weeks.
Will I get to see the progress of the commission?
I will post the progress of the commission at my What's New Blog, allowing you the opportunity to view the progress of the portrait. Once the portrait is complete, you will be emailed a scanned image for your approval.
What method of payments do you accept?
I accept US check or money orders, and debit/credit card payments through PayPal. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required with the order, the remaining balance is due when the portrait is completed and approved. There is a waiting period on all checks, till the check has cleared, before I start on the portrait. A $30.00 fee will be charged for non-negotiable
checks.
How will my portrait be sent?
If you live around the Carlton, Oregon area, I will deliver your portrait. If you are
outside the area, your portrait will be shipped insured via USPS.
Shipping and handling charges are an additional cost and will be added to the portrait cost.
Shipping and handling costs will be based on the size of the portrait.
