I used a new technique on this particular portrait. I establish the values first by using a neutral hue, before applying color.

This is a donation piece for a non-profit rescue group for the Newfoundland dog. It's for the Newf-Net Get together & fund-raiser that is being held this June (2005) in Greenville, Ohio.

The NewFoundland is part of the working dog group. The origin of the NewFoundland is debated. They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in existence today. They are a very gentle, even temper, hard working breed.
